This section of Walt Disney World grew out of Walt Disney's vision for a
futuristic society that would be an
Experimental
Prototype Community of Tomorrow, EPCOT.
This explains the futuristic and educational themes of Future World; the part of Epcot
that includes most of the rides and attractions.
The other half of Epcot is The World Showcase, a display of the culture, history
and retail goods of eleven countries.
Most of the attractions here capture your attention
by involving you in the learning experience. Kids are drawn into an educational adventure
and most adults get swept along too. You're given the opportunity to visit other places in
today's world and then get a glimpse of the future. (Only backwards because Epcot's main
entrance is in Future World).
Pure adrenaline fans will
probably be disappointed, but you'll never get a better rush from learning. Where else can
see the human body from the inside? The Body Wars attraction in The
Wonders of Life pavilion is an exciting motion simulator ride through the human body.
Besides just rides, you can participate in hands-on
activities. Innoventions lets you check out all the latest video games,
connect to the internet and walk through the home of the future.
The newest addition to Epcot is Test Track
presented by General Motors. It's a ride that subjects you to the testing process
for new cars. Look out for the speed test as you whip around the track at over 50mph!
Epcot is also the site of the daily IllumiNations
show, a fabulous pyrotechnics and light show that takes place over World Showcase Lagoon
at the park's closing.
