One of the city’s major attractions, Ontario place has been entertaining families since 1971. Though it is the perfect place to spend an entire day with the kids, it also serves as an excellent getaway for couples or travelers in search of light entertainment. Comprised of three connecting manmade islands dotting Lake Ontario, this gigantic entertainment complex offers a wide assortment of attractions and things to do, both on land and water. In addition to serving as a yacht marina, Ontario place offers various boat rides, carnival rides, games, amusement rides, children’s parks, picnic areas, mazes, virtual reality games, restaurants, eateries, bars, live entertainment, and more.
The Cinesphere, a gigantic triodetic dome featuring IMAX films shown on a 20-by-24-meter screen, dominates the complex, while underneath the spider-like structure, paddleboats and tube rafts and other such leisurely watercraft swarm the lake. Ontario Place also is acclaimed for being home to the Benson and Hedges Symphony of Fire fireworks display, the Canadian International Air Show, and some of the city’s finest cultural performances. Numerous concerts and performance art productions, ranging from famous orchestras to big-name rock acts to classical theater, are presented at the Molson Ampitheatre, located in the heart of the park.
Ontario Place is a seasonal attraction. Keep in mind that age, height and time restrictions do apply to several attractions.
