  CN Tower

301 Front Street West
416-360-8500
Sun-Thurs 9am-10pm, Fri,Sat: 9am-11pm

Built in 1976, the Canadian National Tower is the symbol of Toronto industry and technology. Dominating the city’s skyline, it is the tallest free-standing structure in the world, standing five inches over 1,815 feet. In addition to being a major tourist attraction, the tower’s primary purpose is to enhance the communication system throughout the city, providing residents with sharper television reception, clearer radio signals, and other such signals.

Nowhere else in Toronto is there a better view of the city than from the tower’s observatory, which includes four different lookout levels. Visitors will begin their bird’s-eye view of the city in riding the one of the six high-speed, glass elevators to the first observation level. Visitors, if interested, can then travel another 33 floors to the very top. The glass floor in the main observatory is a riveting and, to some, a near frightening experience. It gives a view straight down to the concrete below, and offers a somewhat strange sensation as you look down at your feet that seem to be walking on air.

While touring the tower and enjoying the views, visitors can check out the $26 million entertainment complex, complete with arcade, motion simulator rides, and other unique-to Canada-attractions. After an hour or two of sightseeing and indulging in the many high-tech amenities, visitors can choose from two different restaurants for a meal, or enjoy a drink at the bar, perhaps to calm the dizziness after treading the glass floor. The Horizon’s Café offers a 360-degree, slowly rotating floor, allowing visitors to observe the entire city over a casual repast. Dining at any of the eateries is great during sunset hours.

Visitors can pay to park in lots near the Tower. Children ages three and under get in free. Rides/events include additional prices. Package prices available for the combination Tower viewing and rides.
