The Opera Company of
Philadelphia is the only grand opera company in the city. It was
established in 1975 through a merger of the Philadelphia Grand
Opera Company and the Philadelphia Lyric Opera Company. All
performances take place at the Academy of Music, Broad and
Locust Streets, Philadelphia.
The Opera Company of
Philadelphia has
a long track record of providing amazing productions that
involve both seasoned veterans and talented newcomers. The company
is adept at identifying new talent thanks in part to their
partnership with the Curtis Institute of Music Opera Theatre and
the Academy of Vocal Arts.
The season begins in October
during the course of which five Grand Operas are normally
