The Centre Pompidou is one of the more modern museums in Paris. Founded by Georges Pompidou in the early 20th century, the Centre Pompidou, designed in modern architecture, reflects the contemporary art it houses inside. French works of art ranging from the beginning of the 20th century to today are displayed in chronological order throughout the building’s six levels. Pieces include modern art, graphic art, architecture, film, photography, sculpture and design, with renowned works from great modernists such as Picasso and Matisse.

Visitors can reach the different floors by traveling the unique escalator on the outside of the building. The escalator itself, resembling a giant tube or worm-portal that runs diagonally along the front of the museum, is one of the most prominent pieces of art the museum possesses. The museum’s permanent collection is showcased on levels four and five, while the temporary exhibits are displayed on level six. Visitors should not forget about the Atelier Brancusi Museum, located next door to the Pompidou. Inside are the original contents of Constantin Brancusi’s art studio, including tools, artwork and other such possessions.
