Little Tokyo Walk
Visitors to Downtown's Little Tokyo can walk through history
as they follow the neighborhood's new commemorative timeline -
Omoide no Shotokyo - Remembering Little Tokyo. This 1,000-foot
installation in the area's historic district tells the story of
six decades of Japanese-American life. With text and quotations
etched in the sidewalk, the timeline covers Japanese settlement
from 1890 immigration through the World War II internment camps.
This special streetscape fronts 13~historic First Street
buildings, including the Japanese American National Museum.

The Bradbury building's interior design was influenced by an
1887 best-selling novel called Looking Backward. "Grand
Street" used to be called "Charity" before
residents petitioned the name. LA has its own small version of
the Statue of Liberty designed by the same man who sculpted the
original in New York. These and other facts along with a
behind-the-scenes look at Downtown are available in a copy of
Bunker Hill/Historic Core District Angels Walk. This informative
brochure offers a self-guided walking tour of LA's past, present
and future, providing interesting historical anecdotes and movie
trivia about Downtown's attractions. Hop off the bus or any of
the Metro Lines to explore LA's most popular sites including
historic Broadway Street, Grand Central Market, the Bradbury
Building, Union Station and Olvera Street as well as the city's
lesser known haunts such as Biddy Mason Park and Poets Walk.
Brochures are available from the Los Angeles Visitor Information
Center at 685 S. Figueroa Street, LA Public Library or at any
Downtown hotel. For more information, contact Angels Walk LA,
