Originally known as the Regency when it opened in 1818, the Old Vic Theatre is undoubtedly one of the most famous theatres on the planet. It is the only theatre in London to have lasted more than 150 years. Some of the most talented actors in the world have graced the stage here, as well as some of the greatest productions ever written, including Sir Laurence Olivier’s versions of Shakespeare’s Richards and Peter O’Toole’s Hamlet, among many others. The Old Vic specializes in classic performances rather than experimental one’s, so expect the best when you patron this place. Furthermore, in addition to an elegant stage, the Old Vic features two of the finest cocktail lounges in London’s Theatre District, making for a great time after dinner and before the show.
