STARDUST HOTEL & CASINO
|
The Stardust Resort and Casino
and it's distinct frontage has occupied a spot on the Strip since 1958. As part of the
one-upmanship of the early casino days, the Stardust once had the largest sign in the
world. Today, the Stardust sign is one of the famous scenes of Las Vegas. The Stardust has
recently completed a $300 million renovation, but got more recognition for being the
location for the movie "Showgirls".
The sports book inside the Stardust is one of the
best in Las Vegas. Serious sportsmen come here to place their wagers due to the
statistical information posted in the casino handicapper's library. The large seating area
has over 250 seats and 50 monitors carrying races on a sophisticated satellite system. The
90,000-square foot gaming floor of the casino is always crowded and tends to be on the
noisy side. The huge slots area also contributes to the noise. Despite the renovation, the
Stardust tends to look shabby in places.
